Day 1-2: Fly into Brisbane and ditch your luggage at Spicers Balfour Hotel, which occupies an elegant 110-year-old townhouse. If you’re in need of retail therapy, hit Ann Street and Brunswick Street, plus James Street precinct. Alternatively, rummage around the stalls of The Collective Markets, where you’ll find one-off threads by emerging local designers, plus art, jewellery and homewares.

Day 3-5: Soak up the beauty of the Sunshine Coast at Noosa, a two-and-a-half-hour drive from Brisbane. You’ll need to spend a few days here to unwind properly. Stay horizontal on the beautiful beaches, go horse-riding in Mary Valley or just unwind with spa treatments.

Day 6-7: Drive back to Brisbane and hop on a plane to Perth (flight time: five hours, 25 minutes). After a relaxing night in Perth, continue the beach adventure : start with Scarborough Beach, where you can get a caffeine kick at Wild Fig or Kinky Lizard; finish the day with fish and chips (and sunset views) at Cottesloe Beach. Keep romance levels high by bedding down at Alex Hotel, a tasty hideaway in arty Northbridge.

Day 8-9: Perth has plenty of markets to choose from: try E Shed Markets, held every weekend at Victoria Quay; admire local produce and indigenous art at Fremantle Markets; nab covetable collectibles at Beaufort Street Art Market, held on the first Sunday of the month

Day 10–12: Get acquainted with little penguins on the Penguin Island Boardwalk & Walk Trail, where you’ll discover the world’s largest colony of diminutive penguins. Feast on succulent seafood at Rockpool Bar & Grill, Neil Perry’s shrine to surf and turf. A short ferry ride from Perth is Rottnest Island, a car-free island with spectacular beaches, plants and plenty of marine and wildlife that’s well worth a visit.

Day 13: Fly back to London from Perth.
